There are a total of 202 law schools that are ABA-approved in the United States. The American Bar Association reviews and approves schools offering a J.D. degree, as well as the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's school, which offers a degree beyond the first degree. It is an officer's resident graduate course, which is a specialized degree in law. The ABA does not rate law schools and warns that prospective law students should consider a variety of factors in making their choice of schools.

The University of Florida is located in Gainesville, FL, which is in North Central Florida. This law program is well known for its strong international law program.

Stetson University College of Law is well ranked by the U.S. News & World Report. Considered to be the top law school in the nation for trial advocacy, it is also ranked number three for legal writing. Stetson law has been ranked first in advocacy 14 times since the U.S. News rankings began in 1995, and has also consistently ranked in the top for legal writing programs. Stetson University is located in Gulfport, FL.

The Florida Coastal School of Law is a fully accredited law school located in Jacksonville, FL. The Davis College of Business at Jacksonville University and the Florida Coastal School of Law have recently started a joint degree program in which students may enroll in the Coastal Law J.D. and the Davis MBA programs simultaneously. Coastal Law is also one of few schools that offer a spring start date.

The Thomas M. Cooley Law School is a private, nonprofit, independent law school accredited by the American Bar Association and the Higher Learning Commission.
